Five-Year LKAS Research Fellowships Scheme

All future applications will be appointed under a five-year scheme, instead of the current three years.

SMG has agreed that all future applications to the LKAS Research Fellowships schemes will be appointed under a five-year scheme, instead of the current three years. Eligibility for the new scheme is restricted to applications made after 19 January 2017, but applies both to the Fully Funded Fellowships and the Leadership Fellowships.

Key points of the five-year scheme include:

  • For Fully Funded Fellowships, progression to Years 4 and 5 will be dependent on a robust performance assessment at the end of Year 3.
  • For Leadership Fellowships, salary funding is available to extend the external fellowship to 5 years. This is in addition to the research grant of up to £100k.
