The Living Wage Foundation has announced an increase to the Voluntary Living Wage rate

The Living Wage Foundation has announced an increase to the Voluntary Living Wage rate across the UK to £9.90 per hour effective from 15 November.  The salaries of colleagues on spinal points 2 - 5 will be amended accordingly, this will result in an increase of 3.9% for those on SCP 2 & 3, 2.7% for those on SCP 4 and 0.9% for those on SCP 5.

The University will implement the new rate with immediate effect for those colleagues engaged on SCP 2-5 in the December salary payment with arrears paid for the period 15 November to 30 November.

Colleagues are asked to note that the December salary payment will be paid one week earlier on Friday 24 December given the closure of the University for the festive period.

The University of Glasgow has been a fully accredited Living Wage Employer since November 2015.  Our commitment to the Real Living Wage is complemented by our membership of the Scottish Business Pledge, a values-led partnership between Government and business. The Pledge encourages employers to adopt fair and progressive workplace policies, including supporting activities to help improve gender balance and diversity in the workforce.

Updated Salary Scales can be found on our HR webpages and further information on the Voluntary Living Wage can be found on the Living Wage Foundation website.
