It was with tremendous sadness that we learnt last week of the passing of our dear friend and former colleague, Karen Morton. As many of you know, Karen worked with the University over 27 years until she left us at the end of 2019 to set up her own company.
Karen made a tremendous contribution to the life and work of the University. She positively impacted countless staff and students through her various roles in Accommodation Services, Cleaning Services; latterly she was an excellent Head of Student Support and Wellbeing and a key member of the crisis support team. Karen was a very well-known and hugely respected colleague who advanced many important agendas, including latterly in the GBV and student mental health spaces.
Many colleagues have been deeply affected by news of her passing. We will always remember with great affection her personal warmth, support and empathy and the outstanding work she did for the University community. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and close friends at this very sad time.
