Car parking update

Published: 18 August 2020

Following discussions with campus trade unions, we have agreed to revise arrangements for car parking on our campuses

Dear Colleagues

As you may be aware, we recently announced temporary parking arrangements intended to give those who do not have parking permits the opportunity to park on campus and therefore reduce dependency on public transport.

Following discussions with the campus trade unions, we have agreed to revise the proposed arrangements to reduce the cost and avoid unnecessary bureaucracy.

From 24 August, the daily or part-day charge for parking at Gilmorehill will be £1. Staff members will still be able to book daily or monthly tickets depending on availability.

We will reintroduce controls at Garscube from 31 August. Existing permit holders at Garscube will be able to reactivate their permits if they wish to; in addition, all staff will be able to book a space for £1 a day or part of a day.

Staff members will still be able to park for free before 10am and after 4pm.

We expect to operate these arrangements until the end of the calendar year, at which point we will review them.

We are in the process of installing more cycle storage facilities to encourage active travel to and from work.

Regards
