Robert Fraser is moving to the University of Manchester to become Chief Finance Officer

The University’s Director of Finance, Robert Fraser, is leaving Glasgow to take up the position of Chief Finance Officer at the University of Manchester. He will take up his new role at the beginning of July.

The Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, said: "Robert has played a vital role in the success of the University of Glasgow over his time here. I am immensely grateful to him for his expert stewardship of our financial resources and for his invaluable advice and support over the years.  He leaves with our very best wishes for the future."

Robert has worked at the University of  Glasgow since 2004 and has led a number of significant projects, including: changing the way research support is provided; improving processes across all areas of finance; and making substantial investment in e-procurement ledgers and payroll. He has overseen and managed the University’s own pension scheme and investment in our campus development programme.

Gregor Caldow will assume the role of Acting Finance Director with effect from 1 July and will remain in post until the substantive post is filled; we will begin the search immediately.
