The 2019 International Nuclear Physics Conference (INPC) will be held in Glasgow. Held every three years, INPC is the biggest conference in the world for fundamental nuclear physics.

Professor David Ireland, head of UofG's Nuclear Physics Group, presented the successful bid on behalf of all the UK's nuclear physics research groups. The bid was prepared with help from the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and the Institute of Physics.

The 2019 conference was awarded to Glasgow by the C12 committee of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, recognising the strength and diversity of UK nuclear physics research and the merits of Glasgow as a conference location.

The last time INPC was held in the UK was 1986. Recent host cities include Vancouver (2010), Florence (2013) and Adelaide (2016).
