'Communicating Science' event for MVLS postgrads - 24 Oct

The BBC Science and Factual Team will be talking about the importance of being able to communicate your research. They'll also showcase broadcast media opportunities for graduates.

When: Monday 24th October 2016, 5.30-7.30pm
Where: Yudowitz Lecture Theatre, Wolfson Medical School Building

In support of the Impact in 60 Seconds competition, MVLS are delighted to welcome visitors from the BBC to talk to Post Doctoral and Post Graduate Students.

RTS and BAFTA Scotland award-winning Matt Barrett, a Producer/Director in BBC Science and Jane McLaughlin, Talent Manager for the BBC Science and Factual team will talk about the importance of being able to communicate your research and also to showcase opportunities for graduates in the field of broadcast media.

Matt and Jane will give a short presentation and will then take questions from the audience. The talk will be followed by drinks in the Atrium of the Wolfson Medical School, where Jacqueline Coffield, from the Research & Business Development Team, will also be available to answer questions on any aspects of the competition.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain expertise on communicating your research to stakeholders, and to explore potential career opportunities.

Impact in 60 Seconds competition

This event is in partnership with the Impact in 60 Seconds competition, which invites early-career researchers within MVLS to make an original video explaining their research to be understood by the public. This competition is one of a host of initiatives that the College introduced as part of our commitment to the BBSRC Excellence with Impact competition, in which we were ranked top University.
