UofG signs MoU with Hong Kong UST

The Principal, Professor Anton Muscatelli, today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Glasgow and Professor Tony Chan, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

The signing took place just a few hours ago in Hong Kong at the inaugural summit of the Times Higher Education Asian Summit, as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of HKUST.

Professor Muscatelli said: 'This is a significant event for both universities and it is very appropriate that the signing of the MOU took place as HKUST marks its  25th birthday and hosts the first ever THE Asia summit. We very much look forward to developing an even closer relationship with our friends at HKUST on academic collaboration and student exchange.'

Professor James Conroy, vice principal for internationalisation, who also attended the signing and who arranged the memorandum of understanding said: 'We are delighted to be able to formalise our relationship with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. HKUST is a highly innovative and ambitious institution and is an ideal partner for the University of Glasgow in the exciting and dynamic Asian region.'

Professor Tony Chan, President of HKUST said, 'This memorandum of understanding is an excellent additional birthday gift as HKUST marks 25 years of success. We already work closely with colleagues and friends from the University of Glasgow and look forward to further collaboration as a result of this MOU.'
