Valerie won the Technology Innovation and Application Award. She was presented with her trophy by Anton du Beke, the Strictly Come Dancing celebrity.

The award organisers said: "This proved to be a very strong field but again the judges were unanimous in their decision.

"They were impressed that Valerie is an obvious driving force behind many sector initiatives, such as Enlighten, Glasgow University’s repository service and the subsequent Enquire and Enrich databases. The judges were particularly pleased with Valerie’s obvious desire to share her knowledge and experience for the benefit of the wider sector."
