Professor David Donnison

‘On Tap But Not on Top: Academic Contributions to the Analysis of Social Problems and the Formulation of Social Policy’

Chair: Ruth Wishart

With opening remarks from Professor Graham Watt, Norrie Miller Chair of General Practice and Primary Care.

  • Date: Tuesday, 9 February at 6 p.m.
  • Venue: Sir Charles Wilson Lecture Theatre (Corner of Gibson Street and University Avenue)

David Donnison, emeritus professor of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow, will share his reflections on the contribution of academics to our understanding of social problems and the development of social policies.  Universities have to consider carefully what special contribution they can make, and how best to carry out this work.

That question is particularly important in small countries whose social problems are as complex as those of larger nations, but whose academic resources are more limited.

All staff, students, and members of the public are welcome.  No advance booking is necessary.  For further information contact: stevensontrust@glasgow.ac.uk

We hope to see you there!
