Accommodating sporting excellence

University of Glasgow Residential Services will be accommodating sporting excellence by offering discounted Halls of Residence fees to selected athletes.

University of Glasgow Sport is delighted to announce the latest partner to our sports bursary programme for 2015/ 2016.

University of Glasgow Residential Services will be accommodating sporting excellence by offering discounted Halls of Residence fees to selected athletes so they can focus on their academic studies and sporting careers without having to worry about the costs of coming to University. The value of the agreement is equivalent to the annual cost of one en-suite room in the University of Glasgow.

This new initiative will hugely benefit talented athletes at the University and see a select number of first year sports bursars (who will be staying in University of Glasgow residencies) receive discounts on their first year’s accommodation costs.

In exchange, sports bursars will become ambassadors for Residential Services, promoting their contribution to delivering an excellent student experience, to our students, through their first class accommodation provisions and services through a series of blogs and testimonials throughout the year.

Supporting talent

Grant Reilly, Marketing & Business Development Manager for University of Glasgow Sport said, “It is great to see other student services departments investing in our sports bursars as they can add considerable value to the University’ reputation and help raise our profile on the international stage and help inspire other students to make the University of Glasgow their number one choice of academic institution”.

Calum Hill, Service Development Teacher at University of Glasgow Sport, who oversees our sports bursary programme said, “This initiative will provide invaluable support to even more talented athletes who work tirelessly to perform at the highest levels both in sport and academically.  We are delighted that Residential Services can offer this support in addition to the first class accommodation they already provide our athletes”.

Karen Morton, Head of Residential and Cleaning Services at the University of Glasgow said, “Residential Services are delighted to support University of Glasgow Sport in offering a great student experience to talented athletes who chose to study and live at University of Glasgow. Everyone will be keen to hear about the selected athlete’s progress throughout the year”.
