The University has announced an exciting realignment of the roles of the Communications Office and Recruitment and International Office (RIO).

The University has announced an exciting realignment of the roles of the Communications Office and Recruitment and International Office (RIO) within University Services in support of the University's ambitious plans for the future.

The marketing, publications and website functions currently within the Marketing Communications team of the Communications Office, led by Ailie Ferrari, will now transfer to an enhanced Service with the RIO teams to form the Marketing, Recruitment & International Office.

Rachel Sandison will lead this new Service as Director, and Ailie will continue to lead the marketing communications team under the new structure assuming the title University Brand Strategist. Rachel said: "This is an unprecedented opportunity to align and develop institutional marketing, recruitment and internationalisation activities within the new Service."

The media, public relations and internal communications functions within the Communications Office will continue to be led by Peter Aitchison. In addition the team will start to develop a more high-profile public affairs role, strengthening the University’s engagement with local, Scottish and UK governments and their agencies. The renamed Communications and Public Affairs Office will report directly to the Court Office and Principal’s Office. It is not anticipated that there will be any immediate office relocations as a result of these realignments.

The changes came into effect from 1 August.
