GUID (Glasgow Unique IDentifier)
You need your GUID and GUID password to access most University IT systems.
For eduroam Wi-Fi and Office 365, use your University email address and GUID password.

Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
You must change your GUID password at least once a year.
Changing your password for one service changes it for ALL services, including eduroam Wi-Fi.
New staff
Even if you already know your GUID, you still need to register here before you can use it.
Students: what you can do with your GUID
Your GUID is your student number followed by the first letter of your surname.
Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
You can use your GUID and password to access:
- UofG Helpdesk
- Computer cluster PCs
- MyGlasgow Student Portal (for Moodle, MyCampus etc)
- E-journals and databases via the University Library
- Remote desktop
- IT Services training courses

Staff: what you can do with your GUID
Your GUID originates from your entry in the HR database.
Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
Depending on your permissions, you can use your GUID and password to access:
- UofG Helpdesk
- Staff email and WebMail
- Standard Staff Desktop (SSD) and remote desktop
- MyGlasgow Staff Portal (for MyCampus, Moodle, Timetabling, Ferguson Bequest etc)
- E-journals and databases via the University Library
- HR/Payroll Self Service (CoreHRl)
- Business systems (including eRecruitment, PIP, Travel Insurance, Research system etc)
- Student Texting Service
- T4 Content Management System
- Online booking for training courses (IT Services, Employee and Organisational Development, etc)
You can also use your University email address and GUID password to access:
New staff: Use the GUID Registration Service to get your GUID and a temporary password.

Line managers: how to request GUID services for new staff
Honorary & Affiliated status
If you are a University employee sponsoring someone registered with Honorary or Affiliate status, contact your local IT support to request a Standard Staff Desktop account and/or email account for them.
All other staff
Standard Staff Desktop and email accounts are created automatically.
