GUID (Glasgow Unique IDentifier)
You need your GUID and GUID password to access most University IT systems.
For eduroam Wi-Fi and Office 365, use your University email address and GUID password.

Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
You must change your GUID password at least once a year.
Changing your password for one service changes it for ALL services, including eduroam Wi-Fi.
New staff
Even if you already know your GUID, you still need to register here before you can use it.

Your GUID is your student number followed by the first letter of your surname
You can access:
- UofG Helpdesk
- Student Computer Clusters
- MyGlasgow Student Portal (for Moodle, MyCampus etc)
- E-journals and databases via the University Library
- Training courses and upskilling

Staff: Services that require a log-in
Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
GUID and password
Your GUID originates from your entry in the HR database.
Depending on your permissions, you can access:
- UofG Helpdesk
- Standard Staff Desktop (SSD)
- MyGlasgow Staff Portal (for MyCampus, Moodle, Timetabling, Ferguson Bequest etc)
- E-journals and databases via the University Library
- HR/Payroll Self Service (CoreHR)
- Business systems (including e-Recruitment, PIP, Travel Insurance, Research Ethics system, Exam Papers system etc)
- Student Texting Service (must be on campus or signed into VPN)
- T4 Content Management System
- Training, upskilling and CPD

New staff: Use the GUID Registration Service to get your GUID and a temporary password.

Honorary & Affiliated status
If you are a University employee sponsoring someone registered with Honorary or Affiliate status, contact your local IT support to request a Standard Staff Desktop account and/or email account for them.
All other staff
Standard Staff Desktop and email accounts are created automatically.
