Everyone is welcome
We welcome everyone to enjoy these collections whether visiting in person or online.
Planning a Visit
The Hunterian has a range of venues to explore on the University of Glasgow campus and beyond.
AccessAble Guides
To help plan your visit, view AccessAble Guides listed below for the Hunterian Museum, the Hunterian Art Gallery, the Mackintosh House and the Hunterian Zoology Museum.
Please note these will take you to the AccessAble website, whose content is independent of The Hunterian. Due to audits and updates by AccessAble the links may occasionally be inactive.

Toilets
The Hunterian Museum and Hunterian Art Gallery have accessible toilets.
Ramps and Lifts
Currently, wheelchair users, or visitors with limited mobility, can access all areas of the Hunterian Museum by lift.
In the Hunterian Art Gallery, access is by ramp to the ground floor and then by lift to the basement and first floor Gallery 2.
Assistance Animals
Guide and assistance animals – including assistance dogs in training – are welcome at our venues. We ask that they are identified by wearing a jacket, a harness, or a brightly coloured collar and lead during your visit.
Portable Folding Stools
Portable folding stools are available in the Hunterian Museum. Please ask our Front of House staff if you need any help.
Additional Accessibility Aids
While visiting our venues, a range of resources are available:
Large Print Resources
Large print resources are available to support your visit and, where indicated, can be downloaded to print or to view on your own device.
Sensory Resources
For young neurodivergent visitors there are sensory bags at the Hunterian Museum and sensory aprons at the Hunterian Art Gallery.
Each is available on request at our welcome desks and offers materials to help young visitors feel relaxed and have a visual plan for their visit.
