This presentation offers a series of philosophical reflections on certain trends within the environmental and especially XR movements which critique the supposed elevation of human exceptionalism within the ecological order.

Attending to the thematics of stewardship, transcendence-subjugation and integrated ecology, the presentation highlights the dangers of the increasingly apocalyptic anti-humanism in several expressions of this conflict and proposes a reconciliation attuned to both the dignity of the human and the demanding ethical responsibilisation that flows from this recognition.
