Protein Expression and Purification

We offer protein expression and purification with quality assessment. We also offer training and access to our equipment, so students can perform their own experiments, which allows them to include their work in a dissertation or thesis.

What we offer:

  • Protein expression and purification
  • Training and support
  • Support in conducting experiments for dissertation and thesis
  • Use of biophysical equipment

Quality Control

The Integrated Protein Analysis Facility offers quality control of proteins and macromolecules, using circular dichroism (CD), size-exclusion chromatography with a multi-angle light source detector (SEC-MALS), or thermal shift assays using our in-house buffer screen.

What we offer:

  • Circular dichroism (CD)
  • Size-exclusion chromatography with multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS)
  • Thermal shift assays

Structural Biology

We also focus on x-ray crystallography and NMR for structural studies of protein samples, and offer thorough analysis of protein structures derived experimentally, or predicted computationally, for researchers to fully utilise the information available through structural biology.

What we offer:

  • X-ray crystallography
  • Computational predictions
  • Analysis of protein structures
  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Binding Affinities

We have the facilities to determine binding affinities of protein-protein, protein-small molecule and protein – nucleic acid interactions, using Surface plasmon resonance (SPR), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) or microscale thermophoresis (MST).

What we offer:

  • Surface plasmon resonance (SPR)
  • Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC)
  • Microscale thermophoresis (MST)
