Mass Spectrometry

Our mass spectrometry methodologies enable the identification and quantification of proteins, metabolites and lipids, providing invaluable insights into the complex interactions within living organisms.

We can carry out various LC-MS and GC-MS assays. If you do not see the method of interest, please contact us and we will assess its feasibility and discuss options with you. Each of the assays described can be accompanied by bioinformatic data processing and analyses.

Proteomics

Proteomic technologies enable the identification or characterization of proteins in a biological system. Mass spectrometry is employed to determine the mass and sequence of proteins or peptides, with sufficient accuracy to permit matching to genome datasets.

Proteomics can be exploited to describe the composition of the biological system of interest. With appropriate experimental design, proteomic approaches can report on the relative abundance of proteins under different conditions, such as health and disease.

What we offer:

  • Protein Identification
  • Protein Complex Characterisation
  • Tandem-Mass-Tagging

Metabolomics

In the realm of metabolomics, we delve into the metabolome—the small-molecule complement of a biological system. We specialise in global metabolomics, providing not only information on specific metabolites but also an unbiased view of the intricate changes and interactions within biochemical networks.

The metabolome can be measured in diverse biological and non-biological systems, offering applications ranging from drug mode-of-action studies to understanding the impacts of climate change.

What we offer:

  • Untargeted metabolomics
  • Stable isotope labelling
  • Biomarker discovery
  • Fragmentation for metabolite identification

Lipidomics

Lipidomics is concerned with the characterisation of lipids, a diverse group of molecules found in all biological organisms that have pivotal structural, signalling and metabolic functions. We bring expertise in the identification and quantification of a wide variety of lipids from biological and clinical samples.

We employ mass spectrometry in both global and targeted lipidomic analyses to investigate the key role that lipids play in human, animal, plant and microbial systems.

What we offer:

  • Sterol analysis
  • FAMEs analysis
  • Global lipidomics
