The Living Laboratory has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at the 2026 Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards, celebrating outstanding collaboration between academia, industry, the public sector and the third sector.
Our Radiogenomics project has been nominated in the Multiparty Collaboration category, recognising the powerful cross-sector partnership between the University of Glasgow, Canon Medical Research Europe, and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
This partnership is bringing together researchers, clinicians, scientists, and software engineers to develop a secure database that integrates imaging, clinical, and genetic data from approximately 1,400 patients with non-small-cell lung cancer.
The database will support the development and testing of AI models by academics and industry partners, creating a foundation for personalised clinical decision support systems that adapt to individual patient characteristics. This work represents a significant step forward in precision medicine, with the potential to improve clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
In addition, the Living Laboratory programme has been shortlisted in the Place-based Impact category, a recognition of its success in delivering targeted and meaningful outcomes across the Glasgow City Region and local communities.
We are proud to see the tangible impact of our work acknowledged through this shortlisting, including contributions to regional economic growth, STEM education and community engagement, and the transformation of local healthcare services. This nomination reflects our ongoing commitment to leveraging research, innovation, and collaboration to deliver meaningful benefits to individuals, communities, and the wider region.
Both nominations reflect the strength of the Living Laboratory’s collaborative approach and its commitment to translating research into real-world impact. The team is delighted to be recognised and we look forward to celebrating at the awards ceremony on the 19th of March.
