Where can I find information about courses and skills training?

There is information on training in the Research Training and Personal Planning Handbook: Research Training Programme Handbook (PDF).

If you would like a printed copy of this handbook, please visit the PGR Progress Review.

How do I check my credits?

You can check your credits on the PGR Progress Review System. We also refer to this list of credits as your skills training record.

How long will it take until credits for internal courses are added to my record?

Adding credits to your skills training record is a manual process.

It may take up to 5 working days once we receive the course registers at the Graduate School office.

We aim to add credits within two weeks of your course attendance.

If you have not received your credits within three weeks, please contact the Graduate School.

How do I get credits for courses I’ve attended outside of the MVLS Graduate School?

Complete the Skills Credit Application Form. We recommend that you plan all training activities with your supervisor.

To complete the form:

  • Go to MyGlasgow > Create a support call
  • Click on Icon for the service catalog area of Avanti, the student support system Service Catalogue
  • Search for 'MVLS Skills Credit Application Form'
  • Complete and submit the form

Complete this form for the following courses:

  • Courses outside of the College of MVLS, e,g. courses run by other University of Glasgow departments including:
    • Researcher Development courses run by the PG Research Office
    • Glasgow Clinical Research Facility
    • IT Services
    • Careers Service
  • All activities that do not appear in the Research Training and Personal Planning Brochure. These courses and activities will gain you one credit.

How can I get an official transcript of my skills training record?

Skills training transcripts are available from the Graduate School.

Please email the Graduate School or visit the reception to put in a request.

Students usually request this transcript at the end of their degree. The transcript outlines all training courses and activities taken during your PGR studies.
