Your first week on campus
The academic year starts on Monday 15 September 2025 – this is when new students are expected to arrive. Teaching begins in the next week, commencing Monday 22nd September.
Induction
There will be welcome activities before and after the start of teaching, with opportunities to familiarise yourself with the wide range of resources available to support you throughout your time here.
We'll publish information here about the induction sessions you'll be expected to attend and the opportunities you'll have to meet other students and staff from your programme. Check this page for updates as you get closer to joining us. We’re looking forward to welcoming you!

College of Arts & Humanities Postgraduate Induction Event
New students will be invited to attend the College of Arts & Humanities Postgraduate Induction event, which will take place on Monday, 6 October from 4-5:30pm in the Glasgow University Union Debates Chamber. This informal gathering is a chance to enjoy refreshments, meet academic and support staff from across the College, and connect with fellow postgraduate students. You will receive an email at the start of the first semester with details about how to book your place.

School of Critical Studies
There will be school and subject induction events between 15th and 19th September. More details will be available closer to the time.
School of Humanities
There will be a welcome reception at Hunterian Museum on Monday 15th September 4.30-6pm. It's an informal event with opportunities to meet other students and staff. There will also be a Support for Postgraduate Learning event on Wednesday 17th September 10am-12.30pm in the Hunterian Art Gallery Lecture Theatre, covering academic skills at the postgraduate level, including a library induction and skills session.
