1985 Chemistry Reunion
Published: 30 June 2025
The Chemistry class of 1985 celebrated their 40th anniversary reunion on campus!
Members of the Chemistry Class of 1985 met on Saturday 14th June 2025 at the University to celebrate 40 years since their graduation. 28 out of the possible 56 graduates attended and spent a memorable afternoon reconnecting and reminiscing.
It started with a very enjoyable tour of the School of Chemistry in the Joseph Black Building, hosted by Prof Justin Hargreaves (Head of the School of Chemistry) and Dr Beth Paschke (Senior Lecturer, Chemistry, and a “Class of 85“ classmate). Many things had changed but lots of the building was familiar and it brought back many happy memories. A new class photo was taken on the steps of the building, re-creating the photo taken after our last exam on 30th May 1985.
Then it was a leisurely stroll down University Avenue to the GUU for lunch in the Drawing Room followed by plenty of time to catch up. People had travelled from various parts of Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales, Switzerland and our furthest travelled attendees, 2 of them, all the way from USA. A great afternoon was had by all.
A big thanks to Prof Hargreaves and Dr Pashcke for the tour, staff in the Development & Alumni department for their help and advice with the planning and to the staff of the GUU for hosting us and providing an excellent lunch.
If you are interested in future reunions and are not already in touch, please contact Liz Jennings (nee Imrie) on 07748 761232.
