English Language can be read as a Single Honours subject, or as Joint Honours combined with a wide range of other subjects, provided that class hours allow.
Many students read for Joint Honours with English Literature or Scottish Literature, our partner programmes within the School of Critical Studies, and you will often take courses shared between these programmes.
Other recent combinations with English Language have included Celtic and Gaelic, Classics, Modern Languages and Cultures, History, Music, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, Theatre, Film and Television Studies, and Theology and Religious Studies.
We also offer a wide range of postgraduate programmes in our subject area, and we contribute to the interdisciplinary work which is a special strength of the ancient Scottish universities.
