School of Social & Political Sciences

The School of Social and Political Sciences is delighted to welcome Professor Anne Kerr as our new Head of School. Anne has joined us from Leeds University where she was Professor of Sociology for nearly 13 years and also held roles as Pro Dean for Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Social Sciences, and as Head of the School of Sociology and Social Policy.

Anne has a background in Science and Technology Studies and Medical Sociology, and is currently finishing up a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award which she holds jointly, looking as personalised cancer medicine. While here Anne is keen to continue to develop her research interests in biomedicine, society and ethics, and to contribute to PGR supervision and UG/PGT teaching where possible.

On her appointment Anne said 'It’s great to have  joined such a successful and welcoming School and I am really looking forward to working with colleagues over the coming months and years'.
