Annabel Goldie was elected as a Conservative regional MSP for the first Scottish Parliament in 1999. She was leader of the Scottish Conservatives in the Parliament from 2005 – 2011. She has an LLB from Strathclyde University and worked as a solicitor in Glasgow from 1978. She is a formidable political debater noted for her application of "common sense".
