Research interests

My research interests are around young people's health and wellbeing, exploring how universities, schools, policymakers and parents can support this through evidence-based approaches informed by young people's perspectives.

My PhD research focused on how young people's experiences on social media interact with sleep, mental health and wellbeing. This combined methodologies to move beyond "screentime" and instead explore the unique social, emotional and cognitive processes linking social media interactions to sleep. As part of this research, I have worked in partnership with schools across Scotland to explore supporting healthy sleep, mental health and social media literacy.

Current supervised projects are using quantitative and qualitative methods to better understand influences on university students' health and wellbeing.
