#TeamSoBots update

An update from Professor Emily Cross and the team

Emily Cross’s #TeamSoBots researchers have scattered to the four winds, with team members currently based in Glasgow, Inverness, Wales, the Netherlands, Germany, Israel, India, Taiwan and Australia, making finding a time for a weekly zoom lab meeting/catch up a challenge, but not an impossibility!

The team meets weekly to touch base with each other about triumphs and struggles that come with working from home, research challenges and breakthroughs, brainstorming about how to adapt various team members’ research projects for online testing, proposals for new projects, and most recently, the weekly zoom meeting even featured its first guest speaker.

In addition, the fabulous team spirit of #TeamSoBots has lead to a spin-off weekly Zoom journal club, and the occasional pub quiz (again, pulling these events off is no mean feat with members spread across the globe!).

Another fantastic feature of these weekly meet ups is a recurring zoom background challenge, which has included favourite COVID-19 memes, a place you’d rather be, your favourite robot, and your favourite ggplot.

While we’re all hanging in there in our respective corners/kitchen tables of the world, we also miss our research and work facilities on Hillhead St (not to mention all our robots!!), and look forward to returning and seeing our amazing colleagues (and robots!) again soon.
