Professional Services Team Update

The general admin team are continuing to support all staff. This has included HR queries, subject money, ethics, zoom meetings and cancelled events. In addition, they have provided a large amount of support for the Athena Swan Silver application submitted on 20 May and a particular thanks to Morag and Courtney.

Meanwhile it’s exam time and what would normally be a very busy time for the teaching admin team, has been even more challenging with the University’s move to online-assessment, whilst working remotely. Fortunately, SoP/INP had recently made the transition to online submission for coursework, so we have not only been able to ensure the smooth operation of examinations (including clear guidance and support for students and staff) but we have also been able to provide logistical advice to other schools. In particular, we are very proud of our Learning and Teaching manager, Ms Lynda Young, who has been sharing good practice through the University’s Assessment Management Group.

We also want to give a big shout out to our Computing Manager, John McClure, who assisted with the provision of IT infrastructure for the COVID-19 Testing Centre at the QEUH. Our IT team have been busy dealing with IT queries from staff and students as well as doing everything they can to ensure we can all work from home, giving advice on equipment and ensuring systems are operational.

Our technical staff, along with research and academic staff, are carrying out essential work including helium refills, fire alarm testing and building checks to ensure our buildings and equipment will be ready for our eventual return.

Our TRM team and project administrators are also busy assisting our researchers with their grant applications and current research awards.
Finally, a thank you to all staff and students who volunteered to help at the testing centre, for all the fabulous tweets and Team messages. It just shows what a fantastic community we have at the INP+.
