Research interests

My primary research interests are directed towards the processing, structure and functional properties of nanostructured materials. I have acquired much experience in the growth of metal oxide nanoparticles and characterisation of their chemical, magnetic, structural and surface properties using a range of techniques, with a special interest in transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In particular, I focus on the use of Lorentz microscopy and off-axis electron holography for imaging magnetic induction within nanostructures; and combining magnetic imaging with in situ TEM experiments to examine magnetisation as a function of chemical alteration, electrical biasing and heating.
