Graduate researcher awarded prize for oral presentation

‌A graduate researcher in the MCMP group was awarded first prize for her oral presentation at the recent Electron Microscopy and Analysis Group meeting, held in Manchester as part of the prestigious Microscience Microscopy Congress (MMC) 2017. Monifa Phillips gave a confident and informative presentation entitled "Resistive Switching in a PCMO Device Incorporating a Zirconia Tunnel Barrier" and described her recent work in next-generation data storage materials. Her research, currently being written-up for publication, concerns atomic-scale analysis of oxide materials that could soon find their way into ultra-high-density usb memory sticks. MMC is the UK's premier conference series in microscopy, attracting international researchers from across the the physical, biological and medical sciences, and is hosted by the Royal Microscopical Society on a biennial basis. The conference became a double celebration for the group, as MCMP Chief Technician Dr Sam Mcfadzean was also awarded the RMS Vice President's Medal during the conference banquet.
