Dr Kirsten Knox

  • Lecturer (Molecular Biosciences)

Biography

After graduating with a BSc Hons in Genetics and Immunology at the University of Aberdeen, Dr Kirsten Knox moved to the University of York to gain her PhD with Dame Professor Ottoline Leyser, researching the molecular interactions between auxin signalling and root hair development.

Dr Knox then moved north again, this time to Edinburgh University, where she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow as well as achieving her PgCAP.

Her varied projects included the genetic regulation of leaf development, molecular regulation of the circadian clock, function of proteins in cell to cell transport through plasmodesmata, and the mechanisms governing the systemic transport of sucrose and xenobiotics.

Kirsten was appointed as a lecturer in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow in December 2019.
