Claudia Dellacasa has been awarded the international Premio Flaiano for Italian Studies "Luca Attanasio", a prestigious honour that recognises outstanding contributions to the global field of Italian Studies. The award not only celebrates academic excellence but also fosters connections between researchers and leading figures across literature, cinema, theatre and television.

Dellacasa’s award-winning monograph, Italo Calvino and Japan: A Journey through the Shallow Depths of Signs (2024), exemplifies this spirit of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural engagement. The study offers a fresh, comparative perspective on Calvino’s work, reframing the iconic Italian author through the lens of his journey to Japan. By tracing the cultural influences Calvino encountered, Dellacasa reveals how they shaped his literary imagination and contributed to his evolving concept of cultural ecology.

This recognition underscores the importance of viewing national literary traditions within a global context, reaffirming the vital role Italian Studies plays in contemporary cultural discourse.
