Information for applicants, teachers and parents

Finding up-to-date, reliable information about your Medical School application can be hard. The best resources are available on the Medical Schools Council Selection Alliance (MSC-SA) website; it is a good idea however to look at the pages of specific medical schools too, as there are subtle differences in what each school is looking for in an applicant - your profile may fit better to a particular school’s access criteria.

University of Glasgow offers Glasgow Access Programme (GAP), for eligible applicants from non-traditional backgrounds.

For teachers and parents:

  • MSC-SA runs regular Q&A sessions for applicants and parents/guardians
  • MSC-SA organises webinars for teachers/parents with the panellists from many different medical schools.
  • Each spring the University of Glasgow offers Teachers’ Conferences to which each subject representative is invited. This is the best opportunity for teachers to gather information and find out answers to your/your pupils’ specific questions from those who are ‘in the know’.
