COP26 at the School of Law

To mark COP26, the University of Glasgow's School of Law is hosting a diverse range of research events and activities, exploring different aspects of how our research can tackle climate change.
The city of Glasgow will play host to this year’s COP26 summit, bringing together parties to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The School of Law will be holding a series of hybrid events, looking at the role of law in tackling climate change. All of these events are open to members of the public to join online. Mobilising the rule of Law in Climate change
Tuesday 2 November, 2pm - 5pm
In partnership with Hausfeld and Strathclyde Law
This event builds on the Declaration resulting from the Summit 'Our Future in the Balance: The Role of Courts and Tribunals in Meeting the Climate Crisis’.
It will feature a keynote address by Mary Robinson and Vanessa Nakate and two panel discussions, focussing on the declaration and broader issues related to the role of courts, legislators and private market actors in addressing the climate crisis.

Finance, Governance and Sustainability
Thursday 4 November, 9am - 1pm
In partnership with the Impact Investing Institute
We will be hosting two panel discussions focusing on two issues that are central to the development of green finance and sustainability in the UK and globally: green bonds, and fiduciary duty and sustainable investment.

Climate Law and Governance Day
Friday 5 November, 9am - 5.30pm
In partnership with Cambridge Climate Law and Governance Initiative
Climate Law and Governance Day 2021 builds on a series of special events during the UNFCCC climate conferences since the 2005 Climate Conference in Montreal, and it aims to mobilize the international law and governance community to help implement the UNFCCC and more recently, the Paris Agreement in the context of the global Sustainable Development Goals.
