Biography
I am a senior lecturer in Public Health and a chartered statistician within the School Of Health and Wellbeing. I have a BSc (honours) in Applied Mathematics and Astronomy, an MSc in Applied Statistics, and a PhD in Public Health.
Long standing research interests include using novel record linkage techniques and statistical methods to analyse complex linked data for research purposes across the spectrum of public health. I am particularly interested in maternal and child health and my current research focuses on child and adolescent health, neurodevelopmental, and educational outcomes related to childhood chronic conditions, early life factors, neonatal and childhood morbidity and maternal/obstetric factors including exposures in-utero.
My most recent publications analysed educational and health outcomes pertaining to schoolchildren treated for diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, skin disorders, neurodevelopmental multimorbidity, and children in care. I previously worked as a statistician within the NHS working on a wide range of data linkage research projects covering topic areas such as obstetrics, congenital anomalies, breastfeeding, child health, prescribing, cancer, education, HPV immunisation, drug misuse and prisoner mortality.
My teaching commitments include delivering lectures and tutorials for various statistics and epidemiology modules within the department’s Master of Public Health (MPH) postgraduate degree. I also provide supervision to undergraduate, masters, and PhD students.
