Biography

I am a Systematic Reviewer in the Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (SPHSU) at the University of Glasgow. I graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MPhil in Social Science Research Methods and have a MA (Hons) in Philosophy, also from the University of Glasgow. Before joining the Unit I worked at the Transport Research Institute at Napier University and the Centre for Transport and Society at the University of the West of England. I then held the post of Researcher in Evidence-based Child Public Health in the Paediatric Epidemiology and Community Health (PEACH) Unit at the University of Glasgow.

I have broad experience of conducting complex systematic reviews including qualitative evidence of policy interventions, review of theories linking income and health, and also research investigating the reporting of narrative synthesis methods of quantitative data in public health systematic reviews.

I have lead the development, administration and analysis of Delphi consultations to develop a reporting guideline for population health and policy interventions, a reporting guideline for narrative synthesis of effect data in systematic reviews, and guidance for the adaptation of complex population health interventions.

Research interests

Research interests

  • Use of systematic review methodologies to inform policy decisions, and investigating social and public health interventions.
  • Systematic review methods including narrative synthesis, mixed methods synthesis, meta-research, and the potential for mixed methods synthesis incorporating systematic review methods to produce timely and useful information on how interventions do, or do not, work.
  • Social and public health interests including understanding links between social security and health, how to address health inequalities, and how to inform and support healthy public policy.
