Dr Giorgio Ciminata

Biography
Giorgio is a Research Assistant working in the health economics and health technology assessment (HEHTA) research group here at the University of Glasgow. He has solid industry and academic experience ranging from life science to health economics.
Giorgio joined the University in October 2014 embarking on a PhD program, completed in 2019, exploring the role of real-world evidence in health technology assessment for a case study of direct oral anticoagulants in the atrial fibrillation population. In addition to the PhD in Health Economics, he has a MSc in Health Economic and Decision Modelling from the University of Sheffield and a BSc (Hons) in Cellular and Molecular Biosciences from Sheffield Hallam University.
Research interests
Giorgio's work ranges from decision analytic modelling to global health, pharmacoepidemiology and methods for comparative effectiveness research. Giorgio has worked on a diverse range of topics and disease areas (mostly cardiovascular and infectious disease). He has also been involved in reviewing new product applications for the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC).

Teaching
Giorgio teaches on the Data Science course of the MSc in Health Technology Assessment. He is also tutor on the annual CPD course in Decision Analytic Modelling for Economic Evaluation.
Giorgio also supervises BSc and MSc students.
