Published: 2 May 2018

We're delighted to announce that Donald Lyall and Kirsty Dunn have become our institute's maternity and paternity champions – providing information, support and advice on matters relating to mat, pat, adoption and shared parental leave and the subsequent return to work

We are delighted to announce that Donald Lyall (Public Health) and Kirsty Dunn (Mental Health and Wellbeing) have volunteered to become the IHW maternity and paternity champions.

As recent new parents themselves, they are here to provide informal information, support and advice on matters relating to maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave and the subsequent return to work.

They will be able to signpost staff to appropriate sources of information such as the availability of childcare vouchers, nursery provision and flexible working. Staff will be signposted to contact HR for detailed information relevant to their own circumstances, particularly around the leave procedures and entitlements.

If you are planning, soon to go on, are just now, or have recently come back from maternity, paternity, shared parental or adoption leave and would welcome a peer supporter, do get in touch with Donald (Donald.Lyall@glasgow.ac.uk) or Kirsty (Kirsty.Dunn@glasgow.ac.uk). Any information shared with the maternity/paternity champions will be confidential, and the champions will be bound by university guidance regarding this.

You can find more information about the scheme on our webpages
