Through our Eyes: Young People's Perspectives on Employment & Health in Inverclyde.
Published: 13 March 2026
Exhibition sharing experiences of young people job searching in Inverclyde. In the Hub from 16th March.
Policy Modelling for Health, a research consortium led by the University of Glasgow, recently worked alongside seven young people through a series of workshops. Using a method called ‘PhotoVoice’, participants took photographs in their homes and neighbourhoods that captured their experiences of job searching in Inverclyde coming together to discuss these as a group. This exhibition shares the powerful photographs and thoughtful captions created by the participants. Participants also explored how local systems make it easier or harder to find suitable, sustainable employment. Using participatory systems mapping, the group built a shared picture of what it is like to be a young person looking for work in Inverclyde.
This work was achieved in collaboration with Project SEARCH, a work experience and employability training programme supporting young people, aged 18-30, based in Inverclyde, that have an additional support need. Partners include West College Scotland (WCS), Inverclyde HSCP, Unity Enterprise, Inverclyde Council, NHS Scotland and Parklea Branching Out.
