Biography
Heather began her role as Geospatial Teaching Technician in July 2024, having completed both her undergraduate (BSc Hons Geography) and postgraduate degree (MSc Sustainable Water Environments) at the University of Glasgow. She is also currently undertaking a part-time Earth Sciences PhD at the University which she works on alongside her current role.
Research interests
Heather is primarily interested in the application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in the field of fluvial geomorphology. Her PhD research investigates a specific aspect of fluvial geomorphology, exploring how meander characteristics vary spatially within Distributive Fluvial Systems (DFS). Throughout her PhD, Heather has become an advanced user of ArcGIS Pro and has established her coding abilities, specifically in Python and Google Earth Engine. Her role as Geospatial Teaching Technician further advances these research interests and skills.
