Biography
Mairi Macleod is a Teacher Associate at the Center for Teaching for Excellence and is part of the Gaelic hub. She also works as an Additional Supports Needs Teacher in GME with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council). She has previous GME Primary Teacher experinece in a city center school.
She holds a BA (Hons) Gaelic and Education from Sabhal Mor Ostaig and has recently returned to complete her MEd Gaelic Education. Having completed all of her education through the medium of Gaelic Mairi has a keen interest in Gaelic Medium Education and ensuring all pupils can benefit from it.
Research interests
Mairi has a keen interest in immersion education and how we can learn from what other minority languages are doing to encourage immersion education. As an ASN teacher she also interested in inclusive pedagogy and supporting pupils with ASN in a minority language.
Throughout her MEd she explored how best to support pupils with ASN in GME and how culture including stories and songs support pre-verbal pupils in early immersion settings.
