Mrs Lynsey Finlayson

Biography

Lynsey Finlayson is an experienced Gaelic Medium Teacher and currently seconded to the University of Glasgow as a Teacher Associate at the Centre for Teaching Excellence and is affiliated with the Gaelic Hub. She is also a lecturer in ITE at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

She holds a BA Hons in Gaelic from Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, a PGDE (Primary) from the University of Aberdeen, a PG Cert in Gaelic Education and has over 20 years’ experience in Gaelic Medium Education.

Having been raised on the Isle of Skye, Lynsey experienced Gaelic Medium Education at a time when Gaelic Units were still in their early stages in Scotland. This experience has shaped her deep commitment to Gaelic Medium Education and the opportunities it offers. She remains dedicated to giving back to the profession that has played such a significant role in her own life and learning.

Research interests

Lynsey is also a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, a role that has provided valuable professional learning opportunities and enabled her to be part of a dynamic and active learning community within the Teacher Education Team, where there is a strong focus on immersion practices and current research.

Lynsey is also involved in the Curriculum Improvement Cycle for literacy and Gaelic, which has provided valuable opportunities for collaboration, networking, and ongoing professional learning and development.

Lynsey's research interests lie in Immersion Education, Curriculum Development and Rural Education.
