Biography

Kerry is an experienced primary teacher working in the North West of Glasgow, currently on part‑time secondment to the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CfTE) at the University of Glasgow. After graduating with a PGDE from the University of Edinburgh in 2017, she has worked across several local authorities, teaching pupils at all levels of Curriculum for Excellence and developing a broad understanding of progression, inclusive pedagogy, and learner diversity.

Across her career, Kerry has taken on a range of leadership roles, including Principal Teacher, Digital Co-ordinator, Challenge Leader of Learning for Literacy and Pedagogy Champion. These roles have enabled her to contribute to school and authority‑wide improvement, lead professional learning, and support colleagues in developing innovative approaches to classroom teaching.

Kerry has been actively involved in practitioner enquiry, using research‑informed approaches to enhance learning and teaching. She has worked closely with probationer and early career teachers, supporting them to undertake research‑focused projects and engage in reflective practice.

 

Research interests

Kerry’s research interests include supporting the next generation of teacher educators and strengthening the bridge between theory and practice. Her work in digital learning focuses on how technology can be used purposefully to support inclusive and creative learning experiences. Kerry is passionate about making connections between pedagogy, professional learning, and the wider learning community. She is particularly interested in family learning, exploring how meaningful partnerships between schools and families can enhance children’s engagement and attainment. Across all curricular areas, Kerry is committed to pedagogy development, examining how evidence‑based approaches can shape high‑quality learning and teaching in primary education.
