Biography
Caroline Rodger is a primary teacher and a Teacher Associate at the Centre for Teaching Excellence.
She taught English across Europe, Asia, and South America for ten years before completing her PGDE in 2017 and MEd in Professional Practice in 2018 at the University of Glasgow.
Starting out in mainstream, Caroline soon found a passion for supporting learners with additional support needs (ASN). She has worked in both Renfrewshire and Glasgow within the ASN sector. Currently, she is working at St Charles’ Primary School and Language and Communication Resource (LCR) in the North West of Glasgow.
Caroline has worked extensively with West Partnership, supporting primary, secondary, and ASN teachers through the professional enquiry process on the Improving Our Classrooms programme.
Research interests
Caroline is passionate about supporting learners with additional support needs, with an emphasis on differentiation and adaptive teaching to ensure every learner can access meaningful learning.
She uses total communication approaches and is interested in supporting Gestalt language learners through responsive, relationship‑centred practice.
She is interested in promoting learners’ health and wellbeing, with a focus on developing emotional literacy and fostering effective regulation strategies.
Caroline also engages in research and professional enquiry to enhance practice and educational outcomes for all. She also enjoys supporting other practitioners through the professional enquiry process.
