Biography
I have taught in Glasgow schools for almost 20 years, with the last ten of these as a Faculty Head of Social Subjects/Humanities, prior to appointment to the Centre for Teaching Excellence as a Teacher Associate.
I am a qualified History and Modern Studies teacher and have experience of marking for the SQA.
I have also achieved professional recognition from the GTCS for completion of Dylan Wiliam's Pedagogy and Equity programme and delivery of this as a teacher leader.
Research interests
My interests include:
Evidence based pedagogy, including cognitive load theory, retrieval practice, and inclusive questioning.
Subject specific issues in secondary education specifically History and Modern Studies, in addition to the role that knowledge plays in the curriculum more generally.
Leadership, reform and change in education.
