Yajie Xiong

Hi, I’m Yajie Xiong, a Chinese student who majors in Educational Studies. Before I came to Glasgow, I was a teacher in Chinese public schools. The 5-year experience not only brings me many memorable times but also inspire me to think about the challenges of education. Due to the passion of seeking a deeper understanding of the education field, I began to consider studying aboard. At this time, I understood that the University of Glasgow is a famous UK university with an over 500-year history and a beautiful environment. Therefore, I came here.

Reviewed the one-year experience in GU, there are so many exciting things happened, and I met many lovely people from all over the world. I will never forget the happy memory that I spent with my tutors and friends. We enjoyed the team performance in the Psycho of Adult Learning class, took photos in the main building, and studied in the library. The raining and cold days never hinder my step, because the lectures and events were always very attractive. I had attended some lectures of other topics, such as Glaswegian, and they were also very interesting. However, sometimes I felt lonely as well as faced the academic pressure. But when I look at the scenery of the campus, the Kelvin park and the Clyde river, I feel much better. With the help of kindly tutors and staffs of GU, I always solve my barriers in a satisfying way.  My tutors and my supervisor guided my study of courses and the writing of essays. They all answered my questions in a very straightforward way by mail. Thus, I can finish the learning of courses and got academic achievements. I also met some issues in my daily life. For example, the process of my application of a new BRP had some problems. In the past 6 months, the staffs of the International Student Service helped me. Without their help, I might not get the refund and get the new one. They are such friendly people!

I give my best wishes to our university. Welcome to the University of Glasgow and have a good study life here!
