An engraving of a portrait of Robert Burns by John Beugo (1759-1841). Burns knew Beugo, who was charged with providing an engraving of the poet for the title page of the Edinburgh edition of 1787. Beugo also provided this portrait, which appears in Currie’s edition. A letter from Beugo to Currie’s publishers, William Cadell and Thomas Davies, outlining the delivery of the copperplate of the portrait, appears in this collection, dated 31 May 1800.
