Biography

I am a Research Associate in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. I completed my PhD at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, where I developed the Distributed COllaborative DEsign Decision (DCODED) framework—a structured process to support architectural decision-making in distributed software teams. A Miro template of the framework is available on Miroverse

My research is based on empirical studies with the software industry to address socio-technical challenges encountered by software development teams in different environments.

My current research interests focus on sustainable software engineering and collaborative software design practices. I’m particularly interested in how these areas intersect—how sustainability principles can inform and enrich software development practices. I remain passionate about supporting software practitioners in navigating the practical and organizational challenges of teamwork and decision-making in real-world contexts.

Research interests

My research interest lies in empirical software engineering. I explore how software teams collaborate, make architectural design decisions, and navigate socio-technical challenges encountered in diverse working environments. I am also interested in understanding how sustainability principles—across environmental, social, technical, and individual dimensions—can be embedded into the everyday practices of software practitioners.

My work is primarily qualitative and closely engaged with industry, using methods such as interviews, workshops, and surveys to investigate real-world practices and challenges.
