Research interests

We use self-assembled organic supramolecular materials in for devices. We have been focusing in particular on the alignment of these supramolecular assemblies to be used in flexible devices that can be worn on the skin as sensors for such things as pressure sensors, light sensors etc. My group are also researching new materials for electrochromic devices to be used in smart windows, they change colour upon the addition of a potential. This involves the design and synthesis of the new materials for the specific devices and then the processing of these materials to make them usable in the chosen device. We are also working with companies who are interested in our research, for example, making new materials for viscosurgical devices to be used in ophthalmic surgery such as cataract surgeries.
