Update from the Research Management Team...
Happy Spring to everyone from your local ICS TRM team.
We’ve had a busy 2018 so far with lots of applications going in. Hopefully you’re all still finding our support helpful.
Gerard has been with us for 2 months now and is settling in well. We’ll let him tell you a bit more about himself in his own words.
“Hello ICS, my name is Gerard Lynch and I am Jill Robertson’s maternity cover. I recently moved back to sunny Scotland after working in cancer research for 6 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. Please feel free to get in contact with me with any queries and I am looking forward to supporting the great research that goes on at the ICS, in any way I can.”
As always can we remind everyone that 2 weeks’ notice is needed to provide the best service we can. The exception is fellowships where we advise a much longer lead in (approximately 6 weeks) in order to also apply to the university LKAS leadership fellowship scheme. This is a university funded ‘add-on’ to your fellowship, which could give you an extra £100k to spend and would also enhance your fellowship application to external funders. The LKAS fellowship needs to be applied for 3 weeks in advance of the funder deadline, and needs to be approved by COG and CMG in advance, hence the longer lead in time. Details can be found at Leadership Fellowships or contact Kristy Bremner for information.
It's also worth noting that the LKAS scheme isn’t just for those looking to apply for fellowships at UoG. For PIs, it’s worth noting that if you are aware of an outstanding candidate at another university who holds an externally funded fellowship, you can apply to LKAS as a project top-up incentive to bring the fellow to UoG and, therefore, to your lab. Definitely worth knowing about!
Remember we’re on hand for all things research related, you know where we are.
