Open Access

To comply with REF policy you must deposit article and conference proceedings in a repository within 3 months of first online publication. The version of the text deposited must be the author accepted manuscript - the agreed text before any publisher marks or logos are added. If you are sure that an article will not be included in the REF return e.g. because it is not a new insight into research, you must let the Open Access Team know. They can record this information and remove the publication from the at-risk section of the REF Compliance reports.

If you are a co-author and you are aware that another author has deposited the author accepted manuscript in a repository, let the Open Access Team know and they may be able to record compliance by referring to the third-party repository.

Regular reports of article compliance with REF Open Access policy are sent to Deans of Research and Research Administrators.
